UN must help Burma, says NLD
Recently in Rangoon the NLD (National League for Democracy) celebrated U Aung San’s 93rd birthday. U Aung San was a key figure in bringing about Burma’s independence from Britian, and is widely respected in Burma. He is also the father of Nobel Laureate and democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. You can find “UN” on the hats of children and a poster says that “To Implement Fully with the Recommendations Made by the United Nations”.
You can read here, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon’s call for the government in Burma to make the new constitution-making process in Burma inclusive of all groups, including Aung San Suu Kyi, the NLD and ethnic groups.
The question is, will the UN actually do anything?
