Include 3000 Villages in Eastern Burma in Your Holidays

Help Raise Awareness and Funds to End the Attacks in Eastern Burma

For the first time ever, we are asking people to respond to Burma's growing humanitarian crisis over the holidays by speaking about the situation in Eastern Burma at holiday events and by holding "3000 Villages" holiday parties.

We've made a number of tools to make this easy for you: download a PowerPoint presentation with accompanying narrative to show your friends and family at holiday functions, and hand out the Eastern Burma info sheet you can download here. Then, ask everyone to sign an electronic petition to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan calling on him to urge action at the United Nations Security Council on Burma.

Share your holiday spirits with the people of Burma, and the compassion you have for the people of Burma with your friends and family. 'Tis the season to share love and blessings, and shed light where we can. And in Burma, we can.

Let us know you're including Eastern Burma in your holidays!

How to Include Eastern Burma in Your Holidays, or host a "3000+ Villages" Holiday Party:

1)

Download our Eastern Burma slideshow. While awareness is growing around the world about the destruction of over 3000 villages in Eastern Burma and the Burmese dictatorship's terrible violence against its own people, there are still many people who have never heard of Burma and the struggles of Burma's 55 million people. It is imperative that we all do our part in raising awareness of what's going on in Eastern Burma.

We have produced materials and tools that will help you educate others about what is happening in Eastern Burma. If you're not able to do a PowerPoint presentation at your holiday function, you can read from the narrative, or speak off-the-cuff.

Download narrative (in PDF) to accompany the presentation

2)

Hand out the Eastern Burma Information Sheet so people can read it there, or later. The sheet also includes information on how to make a donation towards humanitarian relief in Eastern Burma and UN Security Council action in Burma.

3)

Collect signatures by downloading and printing out or petition, or just open up www.uscampaignforburma.org/action/holiday to have your friends and family sign on-line.
