Participate
in the first and only project of its kind: |
"Beaming Burma!"
|
What
is it? |
“Beaming
Burma!” is a singular opportunity to reach
out to the people of Burma who live and struggle
everyday under a cruel military dictatorship.
In the days approaching the 61st birthday of
Burmese imprisoned pro-democracy leader and
Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Aung San Suu Kyi
(pronounced ‘Aung San Sue Chee’),
the US Campaign for Burma appeals to Americans
and supporters of peace and freedom everywhere
to pick up a camera and record a message to
the Burmese people.
How do I participate?
Create a short documentary or a simple video
message to Aung San Suu Kyi for her birthday,
submit it to the US Campaign for Burma by July
1, 2006 on a mini-DV tape or as a Quicktime
file on a DVD, and we will provide it to a satellite
television station that will beam your video
inside Burma!

Important Instructions for
Submitting Your Video: |
|
* |
|
Videos must not be more
than 10 minutes in length. If you are
creating a finished product – an edited
documentary – we recommend your video
be less than 3 minutes long. Videos will be
edited and the US Campaign for Burma cannot
guarantee your video will be included in the
satellite beam to Burma. Animated videos are
also welcome.
|
| * |
|
Videos
must be relevant to Burma or the topics of freedom,
democracy, and human rights. We strongly
recommend that you also make your videos relevant
to Aung San Suu Kyi, an amazingly brave, peaceful
and inspiring individual living her life in
pursuit of non-violence, democracy, and peace.
Aung San Suu Kyi has been under house arrest
for 10 of the past 16 years, even though her
political party won nation-wide elections in
1990. She has never been able to take her place
in a democratic government, but has been attacked
and locked up instead. She is the world’s
only imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize recipient.
