Join the Burma Street Team
Your school up for the challenge?
Join the Street Team for the Beijing Olympics.
Here’s how it works:
- You and your local chapter gather as many names as possible for the Don’t Watch campaign around the Beijing Olympics. Don’t forget though, that you will be competing with other schools for not only glory and street cred- but a host of sweet prizes.
- Competition runs through the end of April - so this is your last chance to do something for Burma before Summer vacation.
- You can easily do it through Facebook - http://apps.facebook.com/causes/76761?recruiter_id=7793 - our cause for the Beijing Olympics- it easily tracks how many people you’ve recruited.
-But there are limitations with Facebook - so if you want to take it to the next level, here’s what you gotta do.
1) Send me(thelma@uscampaignforburma.org) your name and your school (and hey, if you want a team name as well, I am not against that). You can do it as an individual or as a chapter.
2) Print of the petition and start collecting names (email addresses of people is great, but all we need is their name). Get as creative as you want on collecting the names.
3) I’ll keep it all posted on our website , with updates on how many people you have so far
4) I’ll ask for updates from everyone on April 15, and then on April 30th will be the last day (meaning, have your petitions postmarked by that day to send into our office in DC).
5) Winners- well they will get glory, sweet prizes, and the pride of knowing your school actually is the most hardcore.
In order for this campaign to be strong, to really get the word to the Chinese government, that people will not support what they are doing, then we need power. I don’t care if people sign up because they care about Tibet, Burma, Darfur, or what have you - we all need to join together right now!
Also, we are not asking for people to completely boycott the games, just don’t support those who make money from them. We want athletes to compete. This is something easy that people can do at this time.
