About the U.S. Campaign for Burma

The U.S. Campaign for Burma is a U.S.-based organization dedicated to empowering grassroots activists around the world to promote democracy, human rights, justice and national reconciliation in Burma.

Through public education, leadership development initiatives, and advocacy campaigns at local, national, and international levels, USCB works to empower Americans, resettled Burmese refugees, and Burmese civil society in Burma and throughout its border regions to promote freedom, democracy, and human rights in Burma, raise awareness about the egregious human rights violations committed by Burma’s military, and ensure international actors pursue policies that assist the promotion of democracy and human rights in Burma.

The leadership of USCB is comprised of seasoned human rights advocates. The board members and staff members include a former internally displaced person and experienced advocates. We are dedicated to increasing global pressure on Burma's military regime in an effort towards realizing a free Burma.

Our Mission

U.S. Campaign for Burma works for four primary objectives:

(1)  Empower and strengthen the role and capacity of agents of democratic reform in Burma including democracy activists, civil society actors, human rights defenders, and ethnic nationalities, who struggle with unyielding dedication and sacrifice to end the various forms of military rule and create a political system that guarantees democracy, human rights, rule of law, independence of the judiciary, equality and ethnic rights in Burma by peaceful means.

(2)  Expose the human rights violations and the plight of ethnic nationalities in Burma by successive military regimes to the media and international community, in order to promote awareness and responsiveness to emerging situation in the country.

(3)  Inform and mobilize students, grassroots activists, human rights organizations, and global partners to strengthen international support and action for freedom, democracy, human rights, equality, and justice and accountability in Burma.
